Our friendly and welcoming baby and toddler groups are open to all, you don't need to be an NCT member or to have attended antenatal classes. Dads can (and do) come along as well as mums! All we ask for in return is a small voluntary donation towards running costs and the NCT.
Walk and Talk
We are not running our Walk and Talk sessions in the local area at the moment. Whilst we are permitted to run them under the new guidelines, as we offer support to new parents, we just didn't feel it was right to be encouraging groups of people, even in the open air.
Since starting the walks in October, we have run 14 of them in our area, and further afield, walks are taking place across the country - in the first week of December alone there were 196 walks!
We very much hope to be able to start running these again soon!
Nature Tots - Letchworth (currently postponed but will re-start when it is safe to do so)
Join us for an hour of outdoor fun and adventure at our fortnightly Nature Tots at Norton Common.
This group is hosted by our enthusiastic and energetic host Glyn. Each session will start with a warming sing along and will then be followed by a nature activity on a particular theme. The host brings activities to keep the children occupied, which usually include some physical games and craft making, then following a trail in the woods.
The group is aimed at children aged 18 months to 5 years but obviously younger siblings are very welcome! We will meet come rain or shine so please dress your little one and yourself in appropriate clothing for the weather.
There are two car parks, one by the main entrance on Icknield Way and the other at the corner of the common at Norton Way North, by the outdoor swimming pool. There are usually spaces but they can be taken up by commuters. Alternative parking can be found at the Letchworth Town Hall car park and the Garden Square multi-storey car park. Morrisons supermarket is also an option.
We meet by the information sign at the main entrance to the common off Icknield Way (in the middle of the south side of the common). We then move into the Common for fun and adventure so please be prompt and arrive by 10.30 so as not to miss us! Take a look at our Streetmap link if you need to check where we are: http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=521772&Y=233086&A=Y&Z=106
If the weather is such that it would be dangerous to be out on the Common (e.g. in high winds), we will cancel the playgroup for that day and post a message on Facebook accordingly. There are no toilets on Norton Common therefore please bring suitable changing / portable potty equipment for your child.
Please remember that as with all our groups, you will be responsible for looking after your child at all times during the playgroup.
NCTea is our postnatal social group for parents/carers of babies with similar ages. Socials are held on a monthly basis for local parents / carers and their babies. Everyone is welcome; first time parents or fifth time. You don't have to be an NCT member to join an NCTea group, and we welcome coffee drinkers too!
A branch volunteer (currently our branch coordinator, Caroline) facilitates the groups. Parents /carers email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up to a group. Your baby's age and location are needed to administer the socials. Once a month, the branch volunteer will arrange for a social meeting between parents/carers and their babies, ideally within a four month age range. The socials will be held at a mutually convenient location, such as a local cafe and the branch volunteer will attend the first two or three meetings. Once the NCTea group is established, the branch volunteer will no longer attend and move on to set up another NCTea group for the next group of babies.

Making new friends and having fun with others is difficult. Baby massage is a great way of doing both of these as well as learning a new skill to use with your baby now and in the future. Courses start regularly and more details are available on the following website: www.yourbabymassage.com
