The NCT Derby and District branch is run by volunteers who are mainly parents with young children and are always keen to welcome new members. It’s not just for women or parents, everybody is welcome. If you feel that you want to support NCT to provide parents with a better experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood please consider volunteering. It is also a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and represent the NCT.
The NCT have a Volunteer Charter to describe what volunteers can expect from the NCT and in turn what the NCT asks of volunteers. The NCT doesn’t intend to create a contract of employment with volunteers but wants to recognise the value and importance of volunteers in all that the charity does for parents. The NCT want volunteers to enjoy what they do and have fun.
Volunteering for our branch gives you an opportunity to use and develop your skills, experience, creativity and enthusiasm while making a difference to parents locally. To find out what roles we have on offer, please email the branch chair at Coordinator.DerbyAndDistrict@nct.org.uk.
We are also looking for volunteers for our Nearly New Sales (NNS). You could help set up the room, welcome buyers, manage the tills or sell refreshments. Being a NNS volunteer also means you would get first pick at the volunteers' sale, before the doors open to NCT members and the general public. If you require any further information or wish to register your interest as a volunteer at a Nearly New Sale, please email NNS.DerbyAndDistrict@nct.org.uk.
If you have a particular interest or specific set of skills that are not covered by a certain role or just want to volunteer with our branch/ at our groups please contact us to discuss how you can help. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time you can nor do you need to have young babies/ children, some roles/ tasks would suit a Grandparent, Aunt, Uncle, child-minder, someone who is interested in working with children etc etc! Get in touch and get involved! Email the branch chair at Coordinator.DerbyAndDistrict@nct.org.uk to find out more.
