Homebirth Group

About the group

Are you expecting a baby and thinking about where to give birth? The NCT Homebirth Group offers peer support for expectant parents who are considering having their baby within the comfort of their own home. Talking to other people who have given birth at home can help you boost your confidence and provide you with information and support.

Our homebirth group is co-ordinated by Sarah McArdell, local NCT teacher and mum to four – three of whom were born at home. Sarah feels passionate about women’s choices surrounding birth and the meetings offer expectant mothers and their partners chance to meet in an informal atmosphere, share concerns and get factual information as well as hear first hand experiences. You can talk through practicalities as well as ask as many questions as you like.

During a session we aim to include: a birth story; general questions and answers; practicalities; how to work through labour and birth at home; the role of partners and birth supporters including birth companions, doulas and midwives; as well as time to get to know each other.
