Sarah – Branch Cooordinator
Hi I'm Sarah, I am firstly a stay at home mum to Georgina, Reuben and 4 chickens! I am also the Branch Coordinator for the Darlington and District Branch. I first got involved with the NCT locally as a new mum attending the Wednesday Playgroup - I loved the supportive and friendly atmosphere and as did my daughter. After having my second child I decided to have break from my job as a Manager in the NHS and although I was enjoying being a full time mummy I felt like I needed to keep my brain working! I joined the committee in June 2013 as Membership Secretary and also started to get involved more in the running of the Playgroup on a Wednesday. In September 2014 I took over as Branch Coordinator and hope to keep the Branch going from strength to strength, supporting local families as it has for me.
Helen – Early Days Practitioner and branch volunteer
I have been involved with NCT Darlington and District since I moved to Darlington over 4 years ago.
Until my son went to school in September I helped to run the Wednesday playgroup. Now my children are older I am less involved in the day to day running of the groups but still an active member. I co-ordinate the biannual nearly new sales, host the monthly committee meetings and am branch secretary and parent support coordinator.
As well as volunteering for the NCT, I also work for the charity looking after contracts we have with commissioners in Scotland and the North East and I am an Early Days practitioner, facilitating courses for new mums in Newcastle and Darlington.
Katie – Branch Volunteer
Mum to Jemima, Fintan and Rory. I help out with general tasks on the committee and help with organisation and volunteer roundup for the nearly new sales.
Diane – Website editor
Hi, I’m Diane. I am a mum of two boys, with a huge eleven year age gap. After having my youngest son my partner and I decided that I would stay at home to be a full time mum. I spend my days doing a lot of volunteer work, Breast Feeding peer support, helping out with the Wednesday Bumps, Babies and Toddlers group and helping the local Sling library at their local meets. As a mum who used to spend huge amounts of time at work both in and out of the office it is really important to me to keep both mind and body active, and I want to make sure that the smallest member of the family is well socialised and uses his energy up during the day! The NCT has given me a perfect outlet for this with both the Website editing and the playgroup.
Alison Stephenson - Branch Treasurer
My name is Alison Stephenson, I am a mummy to two boys, 5 and 3 years old and I work full time as a Director in my 5 companies. I initially was involved with NCT when I attended one of the breastfeeding support groups. After an appeal for volunteers through Facebook I decided to give something back and became a volunteer in my local branch. My role within the branch is Treasurer and I am also on the Regional team as the Regional Communications Officer and Regional Treasurer Support.
If you want to give something back that fits around your children and gain some friends along the way then why not enquire if there are any ways you can help on the committee
Libby Lee - Branch Volunteer and Student Birth and Beyond Practitioner
Hi im Libby, mother to twin boys and a daughter! I began volunteering in 2015 due to discovering what the NCT was all about. I was bewildered how I had never discovered them through my parenting journey. I began by attending a committee meeting where everyone was warm and welcoming! I now help with bumps and babies, a great group that pregnant ladies and new mums/dads gather for survival hints and tips.
I also sit on the committee and help at the sales so you may see me around! I am currently studying with NCT, training to become a qualified birth and beyond practitioner to run classes in our local area! My passion lies with pregnancy and birth, supporting women and their families through the transition of becoming parents.
Zoe Smith - Advertising Chief
Hi I'm zoe I'm a mum to 4 children and one more on the way. Tyler (18) josh (13) Harley (4) and Tianie (2).
I trained with the NCT to become a breastfeeding peer supporter in 2012 and have been attending local breastfeeding groups as well as antenatal classes and visiting new mums on the maternity ward to support them through the first few weeks of breastfeeding.
I joined the NCT committee in 2015 to give something back to them and I am now helping with advertising for our bumps and beyond booklet.
I enjoy my role within the NCT as it works around my hectic family life but also gives me some much needed me time!
