When you are 24 weeks pregnant, you may start to feel hungrier and begin to gain weight suddenly. Now can also be a good time to think about a birth plan.
Week by week stages of pregnancy: week 24
Now you are 24 weeks pregnant both you and your baby are continuing to grow well. Your baby is about 27-30cm and weighs about 570grams.
24 weeks into your pregnancy, symptoms including increased appetite and tiredness can take hold. You will start putting on a lot of weight. Your heart and lungs are working 50% harder than normal to pump blood and oxygen to your baby in your womb. You may also start to feel hungrier and eat more – but you only need to be eating an extra 200 calories a day. That said you should bear in mind you need to eat healthily throughout pregnancy, so make those 200 calories count.
Now you are 24 weeks pregnant you may want to consider making a birth plan. A birth plan communicates your wishes for labour and birth. In order to make your birth plan you will need to think about some informed decisions- do you want a home birth or a midwifery unit birth? Who will be there to support you? Do you want pain relief? Where you have your baby is an important decision to make. Your decision will affect the kind of birth you have so try to make sure you aware of all your options.
