Jim Haysom from Crawley, West Sussex is hoping to break a world record for blindfold beer mat flipping while sticking to his new year’s resolution to raise money for the NCT, the UK’s leading parenting charity.

Dad of Oliver, aged 9 months, and internet advertising manager, Jim Haysom is not only training to take part in next year’s Virgin London Marathon, but is also raising money by selling off 6,300 rare beer mats on eBay.co.uk for a world record breaking beer mat flipping competition.

Jim Haysom says,

“I was due to run this year’s London Marathon but had to pull out due to injury. I had raised £400 for the NCT but wanted to find a fun and unique way to raise further funds to reach or exceed my target of £1,000. The NCT’s support has been invaluable to me and my wife as we entered into parenthood for the first time.”

“So I have decided to try and set a new world record for beer mat flipping blindfolded and launch a worldwide video competition on YouTube at the same time. Fortunately I have over 6,000 promotional beer mats and rather than throw them away I thought that people could buy them on eBay, the profits of which will go to the NCT, and then join me on YouTube for a video competition to see who can break a record for beer mat flipping.”

The eBay auctions open on Thursday 9th July at 12pm and will end on Sunday 19th July at 12pm.  The record breaking beer mat flipping competition will take place on YouTube and will close on 8th August.
