The President of NCT, the UK’s largest parenting charity, will be celebrating Mother’s Day with a difference in April – by jumping out of a plane at Cambridge Airfield to help support thousands of mums across the country.
As part of their Mother’s Day celebrations, NCT is urging adrenaline junkies to soar above the clouds and take in panoramic views at a choice of 22 Skyline airfields all over the UK on or around Sunday 3 April 2011.
Sue will be jumping with her daughter Elli at Cambridge Airfield on 3 April. She said: “I haven’t got much of a head for heights so I am looking forward to and dreading the jump in about equal measure. I am determined to raise as much money as I can. Elli cannot wait – she is really looking forward to the jump. Her motivation is jumping; mine is raising much-needed funds.”
If you are interested in joining Sue and taking part in this exciting event, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, if you would prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground please consider sponsoring her at http://www.justgiving.com/Sue-and-Elli-Saxey to help further NCT’s support for parents.
The charity hopes to have around 50 supporters doing tandem skydives at designated airfields across the UK raising around £10,000. All the money will go directly to further the work of NCT and its 320 branches across the UK – helping new and expectant parents with the challenges they face. More funds are needed to provide antenatal and postnatal care, breastfeeding counselling and peer supporter networks so every new mum can get the support she needs.
Maria van der Veer, Commercial Fundraising Manager at NCT says: “This is an amazing opportunity to live a real life adventure and we’re grateful to everyone helping to raise vital funds for the charity. Come and support mothers everywhere by taking a leap of faith, and choose an airfield near you so your friends and family can go along to cheer you on!”
