In response to statistics released today by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC), Rosemary Dodds, Senior Policy Adviser, NCT, said:
“We welcome the positive trends in this report, such as the decrease in smoking in pregnancy, stillbirth and infant deaths. However, some shocking geographical health inequalities remain which chime with recent Households below average income (HBAI) statistics.
“It’s important data continues to be collected to demonstrate such inequalities and action is taken to address them. So we call on the government to reinstate the Infant Feeding Survey which provides important information about how babies are fed in the UK.”
