A new campaign launched by the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) - ‘Everyone’s Business’ - finds that pregnant women and new mothers across almost half of the UK do not have access to specialist perinatal mental health services.

The campaign calls for improvements to services for perinatal mental health and maps out provision of care across the UK.

Belinda Phipps, NCT CEO said:

“We support MMHAs ‘Everyone’s Business’ campaign. The mapping they have done shows that the provision of care for perinatal mental health has been put on the backburner. A postcode lottery for support for perinatal mental health is unacceptable and, in extreme cases, can be life threatening. It’s vital that trained staff and resources are available for all, when they need it, no matter where they live.”
