The NCT comments on the safety of baby slings after the recent recall of more than 1m slings in the US and Canada.

Rosie Dodds, Public Policy Officer, says;

"NCT is aware that parents may have concerns about using slings after warnings in the US. NCT believes that this warning only refers to one type of sling - the 'bag sling' where the baby can be hidden, enclosed and at risk of turning so that their airway is squashed.

“Currently, the UK government hasn't issued any warning against the use of slings or baby carriers and NCT is not aware of any evidence against the use of any other type of sling.  There are many benefits to using a sling or baby carrier and parents often find using one convenient and good for bonding.”
