Commenting on the Save the Children report, A Fair Start for Every Child, NCT chief executive Belinda Phipps said:
“NCT welcomes this research. Parents tell us that they are feeling the pinch and many are struggling to meet rising childcare, housing and energy costs.
“We are especially concerned that annual increases in maternity and paternity pay are capped at below inflation, despite already being £100 less per week than the national minimum wage. Parents need more support during pregnancy and the early years, which are critical to a child's development and well-being.”
