Emily Scott, a volunteer from NCT Southam and Villages Branch has been named Parent Supporter of the Year at the national NCT Stars Awards.

The award is presented to an NCT volunteer who has supported parents, promoted positive perceptions of parenthood, or provided supportive services.

Emily organises quarterly social events for volunteers and was instrumental in reviving and running Jolly J’s, a popular baby and toddler group. She regularly offers her own house as a venue for the branch’s breastfeeding peer support sessions and is always on hand to offer infant feeding support.

Presenting the award at a special celebration yesterday at City Hall, London, NCT Head of Volunteering, Nikki Squelch said: “Emily is the glue that holds so many of NCT Southam and Villages Branch’s services and events together.

“She continually goes above and beyond to ensure all local parents feel supported – whether through her role as a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter, helping at the branch’s Nearly New Sale, or simply offering a friendly welcome to all new families to the branch – Emily is a truly worthy recipient of this year’s Volunteer Parent Supporter Award.”

In accepting the award, Emily said: "I am very flattered to have received this award as I am just one of a team of volunteers. I have worked with a lovely group of people over the past year and it has been our ability to pull together as a team that has enabled us to support new parents in the area.”
