In response to the article ‘Baby knows best? The impact of weaning style on food preferences and body mass index in early childhood in a case-controlled study’ published in BMJ Open, Rosie Dodds, Senior Policy Adviser at NCT, the UK’s largest charity for parents, said:

“This research is encouraging as it indicates that it’s safe to enable babies to feed themselves and choose their own foods when they are ready. This is in line with other ‘baby behaviours’, such as crawling and walking, which babies only choose to do when they are ready.

“This research is positive news as more parents are interested in using baby-led weaning.”
