NCT Wimbledon and District needs you!

Volunteering for NCT is a great way to meet new people, make new friends and boost your CV and there are lots of different ways to get involved. Your branch really needs more volunteers so any time you could give would make a huge difference. Your baby or toddler will always be welcome at our events and we understand that your family will always come first.

Here’s just a selection of roles…

Assistant Branch Coordinator

We are a very active branch and need help to continue running and expanding our offering to local parents. This is a varied role, which includes liaising with volunteers, our treasurer, practitioners, recruiting volunteers, helping organize and host events and fundraising.

Time comittment: 2hrs/week.

Branch Secretary
This vital admin role is perfect for fitting in around your family life. This role involves planning quarterly volunteer team meetings, keeping databases organised and up-to-date, preparing documents, sending and answering emails.
Time commitment: 2hrs/week. Can be done from home.

Event organiser

Do you like organising parties and events?
Then join our team and help us organise events like summer picnics, open days, Christmas parties. We would love to hold more events for local parents but need YOUR help. This is a really fun role and can fit in around your family.

Time commitment: adhoc, event specific. Can mostly be done from home.

Parent Services Area (PSA) Link

This is a vital admin role and involves making sure parents-to-be are aware of branch activities and are made to feel welcome. You would send welcome emails to new parents on our database and keep our practitioners up to date with branch events, including posting flyers to them to hand out at their classes.

Time commitment: 1hr/week. Can be done from home.

Breastfeeding Drop-In Welcomers/Helpers
We are looking for volunteers to meet and greet mums attending the breastfeeding drop-in, serve refreshments, take bookings for breastfeeding counsellors and venue set up and tidy up. The drop-in runs every Thursday 10am-midday at Gooseberry Bush, 115 Kingston Road, SW19 1LT.

We would like to like to build a rota of helpers so your time commitment would be one or two sessions per month.

Time commitment: 2 or 4hrs/month

Newsletter Editor

This role involves planning themes for our monthly newsletter and researching and liaising with feature writers. You will edit copy and consider layout to put together an engaging and informative publication. You may also coordinate with our Advertising team as the newsletter is also an important source of fundraising for the branch.

Time commitment: 3hrs/month.Can be done from home.

Fundraising/Sales/Advertising Volunteer
Do you have any fundraising or sales or advertising experience? We need more people with these kinds of skills to work with all the wonderful companies who want to partner with our branch. This is a vital source of fundraising for the branch locally and the charity nationally.
Time commitment: 1hr/week

Playgroup host and helper

Could you help run, or jointly run a playgroup? It could be in a park, coffee shop, or maybe you could host a story time or rhyme or we have some great opportunities at local venues, we just need volunteers to help run them! Your job would be to make people feel welcome, introduce them to others in the group and create an inclusive atmosphere.

Time comittment: one 1hr session a week or fortnight

Dads & Babies Group Leader

We are looking for a dad to start up this much-needed group to support local dads who are responsible for the full/part time care of their children. We can help you with promotion and finding a venue for this new group.

Time commitment: one 1hr session a week or month.

First Aid Course Co-ordinator
We need someone to help us organise and co-ordinate the first aid classes that we offer, including booking the venue and first aid trainer, setting up the online ticket sales and organising for an NCT representative to be present at the course. No first aid experience is required.

Time commitment: 1 hr per month.

Social Media Volunteer
If you have a smart phone this role couldn't be easier! You would work with a team to keep our facebook page up-to-date with all the latest news and events at the branch, as well as posting interesting articles and information and increasing engagement with local parents.

Time commitment: 2hrs/week. Can be done from home.
