Volunteering is a great way to gain confidence, improve skills and make friends.
There's lots of reasons why people volunteer with us and some of the reasons may surprise you. Below are just a few of the reasons why people volunteer.
- 'I volunteer because the branch helped me a lot when my children were little and I want to return the favour.'
- 'I wanted to volunteer so I had a chance to meet new people.'
- 'I decided to volunteer so I can enhance my CV.'
- 'I enjoy volunteering because I like being part of a team.'
We're always looking for people to volunteer whether it be for an hour a month or several hours a week. If you're interested in volunteering with us please email us at email@example.com
For most of our roles you do Not need to be a member to volunteer with us. However you do get reduced membership as a volunteer if you wish to become a member and the money goes back into the charity to fund the helplines and research.

We're looking for someone who can monitor the main branch email address and respond/forward on emails as necessary. Although the email address does need checking regularly (ideally daily) it does not take up a huge amount of time and would be ideal for anyone who would like to help out but can't commit much time.
The role of the Website Editor is to keep the branch's website up to date with info and events. The role can take as little as an hour a month up to as much time as you like. The role may sound daunting and you may think you need previous experience but this really isn't the case absolutely no experience is needed to maintain the website.
This is one of our larger roles but it can be split between several people to make a team. We need someone who can spend some time putting together our quarterly newsletter which is sent out to all members. This role would be ideal for someone looking for some work experience in this area or wanting to build their portfolio for future employers. Equally anyone with enthusiasm and time and a small amount of computer knowledge would be great for the role.
