Next event

Our next event is our Open House on Monday 13 February. This is during half term so something to do when most other local playgroups are having a break. We'll have a Valentine theme and we've also organised a Mini Xpression Dance session with Heidi Whinnett and a Baby Reflex session with Sarah Pluves.

What's on

For those expecting a baby, we have antenatal and refresher courses. As well as helping you prepare for your new arrival, they are a great opportunity to meet other NCT members in your area who are having a baby the same time as you. Our Bumps & Babes groups are also fantastic for getting to know other mums or mums-to-be whose babies are the same age as yours. These are informal groups made up of local NCT members who meet regularly to make friends, share experiences and offer each other support. We also arrange Home Birth Support Meetings for pregnant women who are considering choosing to have their babies at home.

For parents whose little ones have arrived, our regular Open House groups are perfect for meeting new people, and entertaining for both grown-ups and children. If you aren’t part of an antenatal group or a Bumps & Babes group, do come along, as it's the perfect opportunity to meet other families. We offer a support group for Lone Parents and would love to meet you if you'd like to join us.

The Nearly New Sale in October was a very successful event. Over 350 people came to shop and we had 50 volunteers to help, without whom the event wouldn't have been possible, so a big thank you to them and everyone else involved. It was a great place to buy top quality clothing, toys, books and nursery equipment. The event raised £2764 for the NCT. We can't wait to do it again! Our next Sale will be on Saturday 21 April 2012. Seller registration will open a few weeks earlier and volunteers will be needed on the day, so please check the website closer to the time for more details.

Volunteering

Our branch is run solely by volunteers and we are always looking for parents who can use their talents and a little of their time to help us to continue to ensure that local families have access to the valuable resources offered by the NCT. We’d love to hear from you if you can help, even for a couple of hours once a month. Do get in touch if you’d like to get involved.

Info and For Hire

In addition to organising social and fundraising events, our branch also offers support in other ways. Members receive our quarterly branch newsletter, Completely Potty, which has up-to-date information about the services and events run by the branch, along with helpful and entertaining articles about childbirth and parenting.

It doesn't stop there: we have a bra-fitting service. We can help you hire a birth pool. We hire out hospital-grade breast pumps and Valley cushions. And we give information and help on breastfeeding, including advice on local cafes, etc that are breastfeeding friendly.
