NCT Courses - your safety and wellbeing
Safety guidance for NCT Antenatal courses

NCT Antenatal course safety guidance is in place to ensure in-person course sessions run as smoothly as possible. It has been compiled in line with current government guidance related to Covid-19 for the UK nations and islands, and in conjunction with an independent health and safety consultancy. It follows current guidance for those who are pregnant from the UK governments, the NHS, The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) stating pregnant women are at increased risk of becoming severely unwell if they catch Covid-19, particularly in the third trimester of pregnancy - the time when most expectant parents attend NCT Antenatal courses.

NCT safety guidance is regularly updated and reviewed. Read the latest version of the NCT safety guidance for each of the UK nations and Islands where NCT Antenatal courses are held.

We’ll bring you together with other local parents expecting babies at the same time to make vital connections and life-long friends in your community. Our antenatal classes contain plenty of built-in bonding time - you’ll work in different pairs and small groups, practicing new skills to get conversation flowing and connections sparking. Growing together as friends and parents, supporting each other on Messenger and WhatsApp when you need it most, you’ll make your friends for life.

Our 750 expert course leaders are supremely skilled in accessing the latest trusted information, adapting how courses are delivered and tailoring individual support to your local circumstances, as changes happen. With courses online 24 hours after social distancing began, we’ve supported over 80,000 parents-to-be with our antenatal courses since the pandemic began. You can confidently choose NCT to equip you with everything you need to know about pregnancy, birth and the early days as the Covid-19 pandemic continues.

Smaller groups, greater experiences

Our course groups are purposely smaller than our competitors; we allow an absolute maximum of nine couples . This enables our course leaders to give you the time, attention and support you deserve in the optimal group size for forming the life-long friendships you need.

And the support doesn’t end there…

As life with Covid-19 continues, with health services stretched and other practical and emotional support unavailable, we are here. Each antenatal course is uniquely tailored to cover the topics that matter to your group, alongside in-built support time with your course leader to address all your questions. There's also a truly special postnatal reunion where your group, babies and course leader reunite to talk and reflect and our comprehensive postnatal support extends into the years ahead.

How to book your antenatal course

Searching for a local NCT Antenatal course

Enter your postcode and expected due date to see the courses in your local area.  We’ll show courses within 10 miles that suit your due date first (they may not be the closest).  If there’s more than 6 courses, use the advanced search to broaden your search or change the sorting to nearest courses.

We suggest using your home postcode (or if you’re moving soon, the postcode of where you’ll live) - you’ll meet and build friendships with other new parents that live in the local community.

Choosing the right course

We use your expected due date to show courses that are set up for due dates like yours.

Our antenatal courses are designed to end ideally 3-7 weeks before you're expected to have your baby. In some cases, it could expand to 2-9 weeks. There is a date range shown on each course for guidance, and we’ll prioritise ones that fit your due date first.

Location is another factor to consider. There may be a course that’s ideal for your due date, but further away. Or, a nearby course that has date range not as ideal. It’s your choice.

Finally, check that you can attend all session dates and times. Each course session is tailored to the group's needs so you can’t join a session on a different course.

Unsure if you fit the course’s due date range or you're slightly outside of the range

Some courses will mention early, mid or late time of the month. These are a general guide.

If you’re uncertain where you fit, or if you’re a slightly outside of the range, look at when the course ends and calculate the date between that and your due date. If it’s:

  • 3-7 weeks – course is ideal.
  • between 2-3 and 7-9 weeks – course is suitable.
  • less than 2 weeks – course is too close to your due date and you may miss sessions if you’re early.
  • more than 9 weeks – quite far from your due date; others in the group will be further along and you're unlikely to have the same shared experience.

Book your course in confidence - we’ll check your booking and if we find a course that might be more suitable, we'll get in touch to talk it through.

If you've already attended an antenatal course

We have a specially designed antenatal course for parents who would like to refresh their knowledge and meet other parents who're experience a similar situation - see our NCT Antenatal refresher course.

But, you can still join an NCT Antenatal course if you prefer.

Paying for your course

You can pay by debit/credit card. We accept Mastercard, Visa and Maestro.

We offer interest-free monthly instalments – as long as there’s enough time between now and when the course starts. The course needs to be paid in full before the start date.

Requesting an income-related course discount

We offer course and workshop discounts if your total yearly gross household income is under £30,000 - see our discount policy for more information.
