Durham holds two commission based sales a year in the Spring and Autumn, plus a Nearly New Christmas Toy Sale in November.
You do not need to be an NCT member to sell at our sales.
To take part in the sale you need to register and pay your registration fees through our online system. You will be issued with a seller number which helps us track your items. The sales coordinator will send you your seller pack containing lots of useful information and your labels which you attach to your goods ready to sell on the day. When an item is bought we remove half of the label at the tills which is then counted up at the end. We will then pay you your sales total minus the 30% NCT commission by bank transfer or cheque.
If you can, we would love you to stay and help during the sale, for this you will get exclusive access to the sale before the public and a reduced NCT commission rate of 22% or 26%, dependant on how long you volunteer for.
FAQs - Sellers
Q: Do I have to be a NCT Member to sell items at the sale?
A: No - anyone can sell items at our sales. However, demand is high and places are given on a first come, first served basis.
Q: Do I just turn up with my goods on the day?
A: No - our sales are extremely popular and we only have a limited number of sellers at each sale. Sellers MUST register before the event.
Q: Is there a limit to the number of items I can sell?
A: A standard Nearly New Sale registration allows you to sell up to 200 items, a maximum of 80 of these may be hanging items. The following Add-ons are available for additional labels:
Additional 50 standard items @ £1
Additional 20 hanging items @ 50p (maximum 2 per seller)
A: A Christmas Toy Sale registration allows you to sell up to 200 items. The following Add-ons are available for additional labels:
Additional 50 standard items @ £1
Q: How many people visit your sales?
A: We regularly get up to 200 buyers at our sales.
Q: Is it a Table Top Sale?
A: No. You will receive a Seller Number unique to you along with tickets which need to be attached to your items with your seller number and price. The advantage of that is that you don't get bartered down on the day (like with a table top sale) and all clothes are together and all equipment are together etc, making it easier for buyers to find things.
Q: What charges are there to sell?
A: To register for the sale, you need to request a ticket on our Intrabiz site, to guarantee your place. A registration fee is required to receive your tickets, fees are £4.50 for a standard Nearly New Sale and £3.50 for a Christmas Toy Sale. NCT take 22% commission from everything you sell if you volunteer to help out at the sale for the whole day and 26% if you volunteer for a half day. If you decide you only want to drop off your goods and pick them up, then the commission rises to 30%. The money raised goes towards supporting NCT at a local and national level.
Q: I don't have anything to sell, but would like to volunteer. Is that possible?
A: Yes, we'd love to have you help out! If you volunteer then you can have access to the sale before the public. Please email nns.durham@nct.org.uk to register as a volunteer.
Q: What can I sell? Are there items that can't be sold?

Volunteers also get exclusive pre-sale access to make your own purchases. A light lunch, tea, coffee and soft drinks are available all day.
