A message from a local volunteer
Hi, I’m Becky, I’m a community builder volunteer for the NCT Nottingham branch. I started as a volunteer in early 2024 after going back to work part-time and wanted to take some time to do something for me. NCT has been a lifeline for me during my maternity leave, I attended an antenatal course in January 2023 and connected with a lovely group of like minded parents, we are still gathering regularly today. So I looked into the NCT activities and found it was a little quiet. So I volunteered to run a Walk and Talk, monthly, at Gedling Country Park. As part of my role I am now recruiting other volunteers to help raise the activity levels in the Nottingham area. Can you help?
- Reason I volunteered: Work pays the bills, but volunteering makes me happy
Volunteering can fit around your lifestyle and you can support as much or as little as you can. Every bit helps towards supporting new and expecting parents. There is quite a bit online to do, as well as getting out into the community so its flexible for everyone. We have access to a lot of NCT emails and phone lines, making it easy to re-direct or auto-response NCT work when needed (e.g. holidays, children's sickness, your own commitment levels) and avoiding your personal details having to be publicised.
If you’re interested in volunteering and helping to raise the activity level in the Nottingham area, please email branch.nottingham@nct.org.uk and we will help answer any questions you may have.
