Have you thought about volunteering with your local NCT branch? It is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and help out a local charity.

Herts North volunteers

We have a few roles that need filling in the Herts North branch at the moment.

Baby and Toddler groups
Can you help us run our groups? Volunteers are always needed so if you can spare an hour or two, hosting a baby or toddler group is great fun. Our groups usually run once a week or twice a month, but its also possible for them to be hosted on a rota basis if you cannot commit to hosting every week. Hosting might involve meeting and greeting attendees, getting toys out for children to play with, making drinks, tidying up and doing rhyme or story time. Its great if you have a baby yourself and want to meet new people.

We particularly need help with our outdoor Nature Tots group. Our host needs someone to lend a hand with things like crafts, tidying up and herding people. If you could attend each week to help out, we would be very grateful.

Fundraising events organisers
We need volunteers to help organise our exciting and fun fundraising events. This is an ad hoc role and you can volunteer to help for as many or as few events as you like. Time required will depend on what event you volunteer for and how many other people we have helping out, but is usually just for an hour or two. We need extra pairs of hands on the day to help with things like set up / serving refreshments, manning stalls and car parking. Our events (normally held at the weekend) have included Easter Egg Hunt, Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party, Christmas Party and family fun days. We also welcome ideas for new events.

Sling Library "meet and greet" volunteers
We need some help welcoming people to the sling library, helping with forms and making drinks while our coordinators are demonstrating the slings. The library is usually on the first and third Friday of every month, 10am to 11.30am in Hitchin. You don't have to commit to each Friday - whatever you can do is helpful.

All of these roles can be fitted in around family life and work (we have some mums on the committee who work full time as well as volunteer). Plus, it's a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and learn some new skills, as well as have fun along the way. If you would like any further information, or you might be interested in any of these roles, please email Caroline on coordinator.hertsnorth@nct.org.uk or message us on our Facebook page.
