Support and information from NCT
NCT offers reliable support and information about the various stages of pregnancy, week by week.
Your developing baby
Your baby is now about 27-30cm and weighs about 570g.
Your heart and lungs are working 50% harder than normal to pump blood and oxygen to your baby in your womb.
Healthy eating during pregnancy
Healthy eating during pregnancy can make a big difference to you and your baby.
Eating a mix of fruit and vegetables, carbohydrates, protein and dairy means you are more likely to get the balance of nutrients that you and your baby need.

Flu during pregnancy
When you’re pregnant, your immune system is naturally lower. This means that pregnant women are more likely to catch flu and, if they do catch it, they are more likely to develop complications. However, your immune system still functions, and the risk of complications is small.
A free flu jab is available for pregnant women and the NHS advises women to take the vaccine, whatever their stage of pregnancy.
Making a birth plan
Now you are 24 weeks pregnant you may want to consider making a birth plan that outlines your wishes for labour. You’ll need to think about decisions, such as where you want to have your baby and who you want to be there to support you. You may also want to think through your options for pain relief.
You can talk to your midwife or GP and ask them any questions you have or call our Pregnancy and Birth line on 0300 330 0772 where our experienced and trained NCT practitioners will be able to talk you through your options.
