Support and information from NCT
NCT offers reliable support and information about the various stages of pregnancy, week by week.
Are you pregnant?
The first reliable signs of early pregnancy are a missed period together with a positive pregnancy test.
If you’re expecting your period to start on a particular day, you can take the test that day or any time after.
How are you feeling?
At the start of pregnancy, it can be common to feel a little anxious - after all everything is still very new and there’s lots to find out!
Don’t worry, over the next weeks and months we’ll go through the major milestones with you to help you feel more confident and prepared for birth. We will also share tips on how to look after yourself and care for your little one.
You can visit our website which is full of tips and information to help you throughout your pregnancy.
Don't forget your vitamins!
During pregnancy, taking vitamins and supplements can have a positive impact on your growing baby. For instance, the government recommends taking folic acid and vitamin D which can both be bought from pharmacies or prescribed by your GP.
You could also incorporate foods rich in folic acid, such as green leafy vegetables, wholemeal bread and brown rice, into your diet.
Checklist
Have you started taking folic acid?
Taking folic acid will reduce the risk of neural tube defects if taken before week 12.
