In response to NHS ambulance strike action, Chief Executive of NCT, Angela McConville said:

“During the NHS ambulance strike, women in labour who have planned a hospital birth should keep in touch with their maternity unit and make their own way there as advised.

"In the majority of cases, it will mean they will need to be driven to hospital by family, friends or taxi, as ambulance drivers are only responding to danger-to-life calls. The wellbeing of mum and baby is paramount so we would recommend they follow the advice given by hospital trusts and speak to their midwife if they have any questions or concerns.”
