Lizzy is currently a student NCT Doula. An important part of training for this role is that Lizzy is required to support a woman or couple through birth, with the support of the NCT Doula tutors. Your baby needs to be due between mid-March and mid-June 2024 for you to be able to consider asking Lizzy to be your birth doula. The fee for Lizzy to support you has been appropriately set to recognise the fact that she is a student.

Would you like Lizzy to be your doula?

About Lizzy

Lizzy resides in Malvern with her husband and three children. Having transitioned from a successful career as a Policy Advisor within the Civil Service, Lizzy brings a proactive, assertive, and driven approach to her Doula practice. She is happy to support women and families within an hour of the Malvern Hills area in their chosen birth environment.

Birth is uniquely transformative. Lizzy firmly believes that all women and families deserve this to be a positive and empowering experience, however it might unfold. Lizzy's role as your doula is to truly be on your side and by your side - ensuring your voice is heard and respected during pregnancy, birth and beyond. She also has a special interest in VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean).

Before birth

Lizzy offers a listening ear and judgement-free space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, hopes, wishes, and previous experiences.

Lizzy has a keen eye for detail and is skilled at 'connecting the dots'. She uses this detail-oriented approach to assist you in decision-making, by providing you with relevant evidence-based information and guiding you through your options, choices and rights, as well as gently exploring possible alternatives.

Lizzy will stand firmly alongside you, using her solution-focused approach to help you navigate the complexities and challenges of the maternity landscape, ensuring your voice is heard and respected.

During birth

Throughout labour, Lizzy will provide continuous emotional and practical support. She will hold space, being attuned and responsive to your individual needs. She can adeptly guide you through breathing techniques, affirmations, massage, visualisation, and various labour and birth positions and techniques, whilst maintaining an optimal birth environment. She will support the birth partner, helping them find their unique and critical role during labour.

Lizzy will work collaboratively with your care providers, continually communicating birth wishes and fiercely advocating for your autonomy.

After birth

Once your new baby arrives, Lizzy remains by your side until you feel settled, offering support with feeding and providing information on self-care and newborn care.

  • Be available by phone, text and or email in between meetings.
  • Be on call for up to 4 weeks around your estimated due date.
  • Stay with you throughout your labour and after the birth to ensure you and your new family are settled.
  • Provide virtual support in the important early days.
  • Meet with you again once after the birth, to talk through your birth and to support you in the postnatal period.
