We are the branch covering Lancaster around Morecambe Bay to the South Lakes and Furness. We runs groups and events around the area and have a lovely Facebook page for up-to-the-minute information.
The Branch's Coordinator says "NCT was a lifeline when I had my first child and, now I'm further along, volunteering was a natural next step. I am committed to making our branch a friendly, open, happy place. The groups are a place to make friends and connect with parents with small babies, sharing that experience is what makes the NCT a truely unique charity."
We run Bumps and Babes groups in our area. We have a group meeting in the Lancaster Methodist Church on the A6, every Monday (except Bank Holidays) from 10-12. This is really popular amoung late bumps through to preschoolers.
The branch is run entirely by parents who volunteer their time and varied talents. Please don't imagine that you can't make a difference to our group because we have a variety of volunteers from our Nearly New Sale bakers to the committee members. Mostly, volunteering is about having a bit of fun and provides you with a social life, friends and many new skills.
If you want to find out how we run, please come along to the friendly Pudding Club meetings we have in the Greaves Park on the A6. These are the third Monday of the month and everyone is welcome. We always enjoy having suggestions, comments and questions. Lifts to the venue can usually be arranged if transport is a challenge, or please email the branch should you be unable to attend.
Ways of saying hello;
- Emailing the branch on firstname.lastname@example.org. Feel free to ask us about things in the area, if we don't know we'll try to find out.
- Joining us on Facebook. Our page and group are called "NCT Lancaster and Morecambe". We have regular posts about local events or groups and the odd question from the group members.
- Coming to a Bumps and Babes group. Come to the Nearly New Sales, Bumps and Babes groups, meetings, craft group...
- Come to one of our Nearly New Sales held in the Spring and Autumn. These are amazing events involving lots of baby equipment and clothing, we even run a cake cafe!
Other things we do include attending the Maternity Services Liaison Committees (MSLCs) for Barrow, Lancaster and Kendal. Here we make sure parents' voices are heard so your opinions and experiences are vital.
Remember that we love to hear from parents and we are all proud to represent the NCT as a charity who helps parents, particularly during those first 1000 days. Please contact us if you have any questions or feel that volunteering might be for you (you'd be surprised how much you'll get out of it!).
I wish you smiles and unleaking nappies on your parenting journey!
