Deanne is currently a student NCT Doula. An important part of training for this role is that Deanne is required to support a woman or couple through birth with the support of the NCT Doula tutors. The fee for Deanne to support you has been appropriately set to recognise the fact that she is a student.

About Deanne

Deanne is based in Birmingham, next to the M6, and is happy to travel up to an hour away to cover areas to include but not limited to Coventry, Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton.

Deanne is a mum of four having experienced two physiological births and two caesareans. Deanne has been supporting children and their families in various professional capacities through crisis and life challenges, equipping them with skills and knowledge to make the lasting changes they want for the last 12 years. Deanne is a nurturing extra pair of hands. Her goal is to make sure parents feel supported, empowered and confident through the different stages of pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Deanne is a calming presence and believes in person-centred practice. She enjoys working with expectant mothers and partners on their journey to parenthood, helping them both to feel listened to, respected, supported and enabled to make informed decisions about their pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Deanne can help you write your ‘birth preference plan’ and can support you in all birth settings (home, hospital, birth centre). Deanne works with partners to be a calm and positive presence by encouraging closeness and connection between you both.

Deanne aims to create an atmosphere of relaxation and comfort throughout your labour and birth by using massage, helpful birthing positions, breathing techniques, and affirmations, with the purpose of achieving a positive birth experience.

Deanne is warm, friendly and empathetic and loves to support women and their families.

Practicalities

Deanne will provide support by:

  • Arranging an initial meeting to get to know you, and discuss your expectations, giving you the opportunity to decide whether Deanne is the right person to support you on your journey to parenthood.
  • After the initial meet Deanne will offer two further antenatal meetings to get to know each other more and discuss your hopes and/or concerns for labour and birth.
  • Two weeks before your due date and up to two weeks after Deanne will be on call.
  • Deanne will offer a postnatal in-person meeting to provide extra support during the first few days of your baby’s life. This can include reflecting on your birth and exploring some aspects of your labour and/or birth experience as well as answering any questions that may have arisen postnatally and signposting to appropriate services or support.
  • Deanne will be available through email, text and WhatsApp up to four weeks after birth.

Testimonial

"Deanne is a very passionate individual and will go above and beyond to do what is right, and advocate for people in need of support. Deanne is supportive, compassionate and friendly, with the ability to put people at ease, which I think makes her a great doula. Deanne has children herself and was a great support to me during my pregnancy and postnatal period."

"Thank you for your amazing presence as our Doula. Your support was crucial during the pregnancy and delivery. Your genuine care, calming presence, and wealth of knowledge made a difference in our birthing experience. You were a great help in ensuring we had a natural delivery, communicating our desires to the clinical team, while offering comfort measures during labour. We would 100% recommend you to anyone looking for exceptional doula support."
