My name is Jo and I am the Branch Coordinator for Yeovil and Sherborne. I decided to volunteer with NCT after a less than great experience with infant feeding support in the early days with my first baby Sebastian, who is now 2.
"I wanted to make a difference and help and support new parents in our local community."
I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with our second baby.
I first started volunteering for NCT following my NCT antenatal class which I attended with my husband Adam. I realised there was very little activity within the branch, and I wanted to change this.
My role fits well around my family and work commitments, as I work part time. I spent about three months just before Christmas last year applying to Awards 4 All for a grant to start an infant feeding support group that was successful!
I enjoy my role and find it rewarding. I look forward to meeting new parents as soon as the infant feeding group starts providing them with support.
"I have made many new friends through volunteering. It's great for socialising and meeting new people."
