NCT is delighted to have recently welcomed two new Trustees to its Board, Chi Evi-Parker and Franciane Husbands-Chevot. Chi and Franciane were elected at the charity’s 2020 AGM in December, and both bring a wealth of knowledge and lived experience. They will attend their first Board meeting in March.

NCT is also pleased to introduce three new Committee members who will support its Board of Trustees. Ema Ojiako and Salima Shariff will be voluntary independent members on NCT’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and Faran Johnson will be a voluntary independent member of its Audit, Risk and Scrutiny Committee. Ema, Salima and Faran are all senior professionals within their chosen careers and NCT looks forward to working closely with them in the future.

Together with their rich lived experience, they bring a range of  skills and expertise to NCT's governance work, including research, public health, talent management, civic society, change management and marketing.

Franciane Husbands-Chevot said: 'This is a huge but exciting responsibility. NCT and my online classmates supported me through my pregnancy and having a new baby during Covid-19. I’m looking forward to being a champion for diversity and inclusion. I want to use my lived experience to help shape the future of NCT support for every parent and to influence other organisations in maternity care to improve too’.

Chi Evi-Parker said: ‘I’m really inspired by the challenges facing maternity at the moment and the amazing things NCT has done over the last year. I’m an advocate for equality, and an advisor and mentor for a number of Black, Asian and ethnic minority organisations. I’m passionate about ensuring any parent can educate themselves, no matter who they are or where they’re from.’

Jessica Figueras, Chair of Trustees, NCT said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to welcome Chi, Franciane, Ema, Salima and Faran to NCT. Their professional and lived experience brings a range of perspectives which will contribute enormously to strong governance at NCT. As part of our work to affect a major culture shift in our equality, diversity and inclusion practices, we have taken positive action to increase the diversity of our Board and Committees. It is incredibly exciting to begin 2021 with such committed and talented individuals to support the next phase for our charity’.
