Our Baby Bundles project is designed to support pregnant women and new families in difficult circumstances. We offer emergency packs of donated baby basics, including toiletries, clothes and equipment to vulnerable women and families in the Plymouth area
We collect the items at designated points, including at our Nearly New Sales and Bumps and Babies groups across the city. Some items are donated, and others are purchased new using money raised by the branch through fundraising events. The bundles are then put together by volunteers and distributed to those in need through established connections, including Barnardo’s, Children’s Storehouse, Plymouth Refuge and a number of Children’s Centres across the city.
Beneficiaries of the scheme could include victims of domestic violence, refugees or asylum seekers, lone parents, women from low income household, women with mental health issues and young, disadvantaged mums.
The bundles generally include:
- Baby clothes
- Reusable or disposable nappies & wipes
- Blankets & sheets
- Baby toys
- Toiletries for both mother and baby
- Sometimes larger items like a Moses basket, sling, or breastfeeding pillow can be provided.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help with the project, and donations of high-quality clothes (newborn-3m) and other essential starter items in order to maintain a healthy supply of bundles. If you'd like to get involved, please get in touch via email to plymouth@nct.org.uk
