Between Sunday 16 August and Saturday 22 August, NCT will feature on the BBC Radio 4 Appeal as part of our 70th anniversary celebrations.
The appeal will raise vital funds for our infant feeding support, helping parents get practical, non-judgemental help when feeding feels difficult, painful, uncertain or overwhelming.
In the appeal, we hear Steph's story – one example of how the right support, at the right time, can help a new parent feel listened to, more confident and less alone.
By donating to our appeal, you can help parents across the country have access to the expert feeding support and connection they need during the challenging early weeks of parenthood, making a life-changing difference when it matters most.
£5 could connect a new parent with a local NCT group and help them feel less isolated.
£10 could provide a new parent in crisis with nappies and other baby essentials.
£20 could help our NCT Infant Feeding Line answer a call from someone who is struggling in the early days of parenthood.
How to listen
You can listen to our 3-minute appeal on BBC Radio 4 at the following times:
- Sunday 16 August at 7:54 and 21:25
- Thursday 20 August at 15:27
If you miss it, don’t worry! We’ll share the link to catch up on BBC Radio Sounds.
Our Baby Cafés
Feeding a baby can bring questions, worries and challenges – whether parents are breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, expressing, mixed feeding or starting solids.
Through Baby Cafés, Infant Feeding Line and PIF-tick accredited online information, we offer practical, non-judgemental support to help parents make the choices that are right for them and their baby.
In the appeal, Steph, a new parent from Cambridgeshire, found much needed feeding support at her local NCT Baby Café. Across the UK, we run over 40 Baby Cafés and Steph is just one of the many parents we’re there for. NCT Baby Cafés offer free drop-in feeding support and connection for parents in their communities.
Robyn’s story
We’re so honoured that GB Paralympian Robyn Love is presenting our BBC Radio 4 Appeal. Robyn, and her partner Laurie, were supported by NCT when they became parents to their daughter Alba. She understands just how life-changing the right support can be for new parents and shares:
Early parenthood can feel intense and, at times, isolating. Every parent’s journey is different, but everyone deserves support they can trust. For us, having reliable information and a sense of community made a real difference in those early days. I’m proud to be presenting NCT’s BBC Radio 4 Appeal and helping to raise vital funds so future generations of parents can get the support they need.
For 70 years, NCT has been there for women and parents through pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. Your donation will help us continue that support for the next generation – helping more new parents feel confident, connected and safe. No judgement. No exceptions.
Thank you.
