We’re looking to the future with a strategy for recovery and renewal.
We are NCT – the national charity for pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
Our vision is of a world in which no parent is isolated and all parents are supported to build a stronger society.
Our mission is to support parents through the first 1,000 days to have the best possible experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
We achieve our mission though three interconnected aims:
- Sharing evidence-based knowledge to support parents to make informed decisions.
- Creating networks of vital support and life-long friendship.
- Campaigning on the issues that matter most to families throughout their early experiences of becoming a parent.
Every year, we support thousands of expectant and new parents across the UK and Channel Islands to feel more connected and confident during this major life transition.
We provide evidence-based information on our website, which is accessed over six million times a year. We support parents through antenatal and postnatal courses, attended by over 100,000 expectant and new parents. Our national network of volunteers support over half a million parents through free community-based activities and events. NCT breastfeeding counsellors support thousands of parents via our free infant feeding line and in homes, community drop-ins and services. We also provide a range of funded peer support programmes to support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation or poor mental health.
In June 2020, we launched our strategy for recovery and renewal, to help us manage through the social and economic impacts of the Covid-19 public health crisis.
Our support for pregnant women, their partners and new parents has been critical during the pandemic. As we emerged from the initial period of crisis management, we recognised the need to be brave, embrace change and innovate in order to remain present and relevant in a rapidly changing environment.
Our Board of Trustees unanimously agreed three priorities to ensure a safe and sustainable future and to maximise our impact for parents.
We will continue to be the UK’s most trusted antenatal education and infant feeding charity.
We will grow our reputation as the UK’s most trusted provider of digital support for pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.
We will put in place a safe unlock plan to enable our inclusive community of parents supporting parents to flourish safely and with big impact.
A cornerstone to our strategy is being an open, diverse and inclusive charity so we can support all parents, whoever they are, and whatever their situation.
Our people are at the heart of this strategy - with a shared commitment to ensuring that every pregnant woman and new parent has access to information and community in reaching safe, informed, empowered experiences of new parenthood.
